Please note, if you webserver has the suhosin security extension installed, or has the mod_security extension installed, you may have problems uploading images as this extension uses a flash/javascript multiple image uploader. You may need to disable some features in these extensions, or turn them off altogether. You can find out if you have these installed by going to Joomla Backend -> Help -> System info -> PHP Information and searching for "suhosin" and "mod_security". There is detailed information about how to disable some features of suhosin/mod_security in the subscriber documentation.

Purchase

Ignite Gallery is $40 (US Dollars). This includes 6 months of updates/ new versions and 6 months of support. The extension is released under the GPL v2 License. This license allows you to use the extension on as many sites as you choose, and to modify it to your liking. There is no encryption or activation code in GPL licensed software, so the extension does not have a time limit on how long it works. The six month limit is a limit on how long you can log in to the site and download updates/ new versions, and how long you can submit support requests.

Future plans for Ignite Gallery

*We are now planning a 2.5 version in late Feburary/ early March, instead of the previous plans for a 2.2 version in January/ early Feburary. The version change is because we decided we need to do some major changes to how the extension works, if we want future features to work well. We expect 2.5 will set up a good codebase for 2.6/2.7, which we expect will be more minor updates. You will be able to upgrade 2.1 to 2.5 keeping all content, but it won't be a simple process of applying a patch

For Version 2.5 we are planning:

  • There will not be galleries and categories, just categories, that do the job of a gallery and a category.
  • Profiles: The category settings will be stored in a profile. Multiple categories can be assigned to a profile. Changing the profile will change the settings in all the categories assigned to it.
  • Watermarking
  • Image tagging and a search
  • A random/ latest/ highest rated/ most commented image module
  • A Java uploader, as a backup if there are server conflicts with the flash uploader.
  • Single Image upload option (standard html form), and import images from a folder on the server.
  • A sliding category view, where users can navigate horizontally through categories/ subcategories
  • Pagination in the frontend, when multiple categories are displayed to the public.
  • A download image button
  • Support for transparent Gifs and PNGs
  • Importing of EXIF photo descriptions
  • Copy category button and copy/move image functions.
  • Possibly the option to resize images before they are uploaded.

If you can think of a feature that you would like in Ignite Gallery, You can make a post in the "Feature Request" section of the support forum.
